(Dân trí) - Một loại hoa hồng đặc biệt mang tên hoa hồng bảy sắc cầu vồng với nhiều màu sắc trên cánh hoa - đỏ, vàng, xanh da trời, xanh lá cây, tím - đã lần đầu tiên có mặt tại Anh.

Hoa hồng đỏ thường biểu hiện cho tình yêu và sự lãng mạn, hồng vàng thể hiện tình bạn và những bông hoa màu hồng nói thay cho lời cảm ơn của người tặng. Nhưng nếu không chắc chắn về ý nghĩa của mỗi loại hoa hoặc bạn muốn một ai đó phải phỏng đoán, hãy gửi đi những bông hoa hồng bảy sắc cầu vồng.

Loại hoa hồng nhiều màu sắc, còn được biết tới với tên gọi hoa hồng hạnh phúc hay hoa hồng bảy sắc cầu vồng, là "con đẻ" của chuyên gia nghiên cứu hoa người Hà Lan Peter van de Werken.

Ở giai đoạn phát triển ban đầu, hoa hồng bảy sắc cầu vồng là những bông hoa mang màu kem thuộc họ hoa hồng cuống dài Vendela. Sau đó, Werken - chủ nhân công ty River Flowers gần Den Bosch, miền nam Hà Lan - đã sử dụng các loại thuốc nhuộm thực phẩm khác nhau để cấy vào hoa một lần duy nhất nhằm tạo ra những màu sắc khác nhau của cánh hoa. Tuy nhiên, các bước chi tiết của quá trình này và làm thế nào mà một bông hoa lại mang nhiều màu sắc như vậy vẫn là một bí mật thương mại của người sáng tạo ra nó.

Hoa hồng bảy sắc cầu vồng đã được bán rộng rãi trên khắp thế giới. Loài hoa này cũng có mùi thơm ngọt dịu và giữ được lâu giống các loài hoa hồng thông thường nhưng lá có thể nhanh héo hơn.

Hơn 1 triệu bông hồng bảy sắc cầu vồng đã được tiêu thụ trong vòng 1 năm, với các thị trường chính là Nhật Bản, Italia và đặc biệt là Thụy Điển, nơi màu vàng và xanh là hai màu trên lá quốc kỳ.

Tại Anh, khách hàng có thể đặt mua hoa hồng bảy sắc cầu vồng tại một shop hoa trên mạng internet. Tuy nhiên, giá của chúng không hề rẻ. Một bông hoa có giá 35 USD và một bó 12 bông giá 94 USD, gấp đôi so với một bó 12 bông hoa hồng đỏ thông thường.

Roses are red (and yellow and blue and green and purple)... spectacular rainbow rose to be sold in Britain for the first time

Red ones mean passion and romance, yellow ones speak of friendship, and pink can express your thanks.

If you're feeling a little confused - or you want to keep a lady guessing - you could try sending these roses instead.

The multi-coloured flowers, known as rainbow roses or happy roses, are the latest thing in quirky gifts.

They start life as cream roses, but the heads take on hues from various food dyes placed in their water one at a time and sucked up the stems.

We know the process takes between 12 and 24 hours, but not how the different petals turn out different colours.

That remains a trade secret of their creator, Dutch florist Peter van de Werken, who branched out from creating brightly coloured chrysanthemums.

He buys long-stemmed Vendela roses, dyes them and distributes them around the world. They still have their sweet smell and the flowers will last as long as normal roses, but the leaves may wither sooner.

More than a million were sold in a year, with key markets in Japan, Italy and particularly Sweden, where blue and yellow varieties mimic the national flag. Britons can buy them at online florist Interrose.co.uk.

However, they do not come cheap. One stem costs £24.49 and a dozen £64.87, more than double the price of 12 red roses.

So maybe they do send a simple message after all - you're worth it.
